About ten years ago the Lancaster and Chester Railroad agreed to store five Iowa Pacific cars, four of which were brought in by truck. After a few years, storage payments stopped and later IP became bankrupt. Several of the cars were in deplorable condition: two were tubed out, one was a fairly intact Pullman sleeper with a more than 50 year old COTS date, one was taken down to the frame and skeleton after it arrived plus the coach that came by rail. Three of the derelict cars had asbestos. L&C became concerned that any one of a number of undesirable outcomes could occur, including the eventual abandonment of the cars or the possible purchase of cars by people who would not be able to get them into roadworthy condition. So L&C bought the cars from the trustee.
The coach was sold. The other cars were earmarked for scrap, but before doing so L&C put ads in the RYPN Classifieds for all of the salvageable parts, which included a full set of fixtures from a sleeper, a half a dozen Pullman chairs, the right to harvest the parts from the other sleeper, one set of heavyweight and one set of lightweight rotating end cap bearing trucks, four titelock couplers and a set of unused rebuilt trucks.
The outcome was that the coach has a new home and all of the reusable stuff now belongs to a museum. L&C was able to recover its investment plus the cost of asbestos removal. The cars have now been scrapped.
Thanks RYPN for offering this service. It got a lot of stuff saved that would otherwise have gone to scrap.

Excellent news that RYPN has served to help you find a good solution for those cars and parts.

I believe this was the sleeper (from Rainier Rails' post here viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36455):: "Pullman 6S-6DB sleeper Poplar Summit (Plan #4084A), originally 12S-1DR sleeper McClung (Lot #4845, Plan #3410, 1925), converted in 1939. Sold in 1967 to Ruben Darby-Darby Wood Products. Acquired from Lake Shore RHS as SLRG #9166."

I have seen photos from recent years that show it in much worse shape:

One of the sleepers was Poplar Summit. The other was Greenville which once was NYC 10000.
The two tubed out diners were identified only as "IC diner" and "B&O diner".
