Herndon, Virginia, has been mostly swallowed up in the suburban sprawl of Washington, D.C., but it was once a quiet town surrounded by farmland and served by the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad. John Cowgill explores the history of Herndon and the railroad, with photographs of what remains.
