From IRM Facebook page--Mr. Kutella was an active member of the IRM restoration teams, and an occasional contributor here in the past.

We are very sad to report that longtime IRM volunteer Bob Kutella has died. Bob joined the museum shortly after the move to Union, in the mid-1960s, and was active until about a decade ago when health problems forced him to "retire" as a volunteer. During the 40+ years he was active, he served in a variety of roles with the museum including General Manager, Director, and Curator of the Freight Car Department. He was responsible for the acquisition and/or restoration of several historic freight cars; for the outfitting of the museum's current wood shop with restored antique woodworking machines; and for the restoration of Sand Springs 68, a 1918 lightweight interurban car. His contributions to IRM over the years are difficult to overstate. He will be sorely missed.

Bob was an IRM legend. He really took charge and created that wood shop full of wild and crazy antique machines, brought up to modern safety standards. It's like a mini-museum with a museum.

Had a number of e-mail conversations with Bob over the years. Always graciously responded to my questions.

He is the reason I’m now a volunteer at the IRM. Bob was that right kind of personality that could attract new people and put them to good use. One of those guys that always had a joke of the day.
The wood shop, The Freight Department, The Caboose train among a lot of other things at The IRM would not have happened as well as they did without Bob.
