Post subject:  Pickering Heisler #2 Travel Town question

When I visited Travel Town in Los Angeles last time I mentioned something wrong with
Pickering Heisler #2 (original HHRR #2). But I can not figure it out what bother me.

Last weekend I cataloged some pics then I see!
That locomotive had "homemade" truss rods on the main frame.
For me that is a clear indication that the main frame either cracked or broken. That maybe
the reason that all 40s 50s pics of this locomotive show her idle inside the yard or on
light duty -fuel -m.o.w. or -snow service. I never see a pic with a heavy log train behind.
It go to Travel Town in 1957.

question
I know in the late 1930s there where the first railfan tours alongside Sierra and Pickering.
Anybody has pics of #2 that time or even earlier to see if that repair already happen then.

Or anybody has more info about this repair? Why? When?
