Dr. Denny Anspach, one of the founders of the California State RR Museum is in hospice and needs your prayers. He has an inoperative tumor in his throat and is resting comfortably on morphine in Sacramento with only a few days of life expected. Denny is a longtime R&LHS member and his early efforts to establish CSRM is a preservation story many of us are well familiar. His golden hour was his infamous 1969 dinner with then-CA Governor Ronald Reagan in the dining section of the "Gold Coast" during which he successfully persuaded the governor to release funding for the initial development of CSRM. In recent years he was Chair of CSRM's Collections Committee and has been a guiding force in the development of CSRM from the start.

Prayers for Denny, please, as he fights cancer during this trying hour.

Few years ago, I had a long discussion with Denny at a conference. He remarked on the risk he took in relocating from San Francisco to Sacramento to be on the ready for the numerous meetings leading up to that diner in the Gold Coast. To him, CSRM has well exceeded his 1960s expectations...a true ambassador for railroad preservation. Good thoughts toward him and his family in this difficult time.
