The former Baltimore & Ohio shops at Washington, Indiana were sold to, and used by Evans Railcar starting in the late 1960's. Their office was situated along Walnut Street on the north side of the shops. On display outside of the shops was a wheel center from a steam locomotive, the remains of a 60" driver, which was painted red, white, and blue, with blue stars on the counterweight section. The wheel disappeared from the display at a unknown time.

Probably a long shot, but does anyone have any snapshots showing the wheel on display outside of the office? We have made some contacts with a local who recalls the wheel being there, but are looking for some positive proof (something something 1000 words....).

Even more of a long shot, we are very curious if anyone may even know the story of how that wheel may have come to being displayed there. It shows signs of heavy pitting, as-if it was buried at some point. It wouldn't be the first steam locomotive wheel that was dug up at a locomotive shop unexpectedly.

A similar wheel to what has been described above has surfaced in a local estate, and we are trying to positively identify it's origins.
