I am in need of two gears for a CP-SPEED RECORDER. Numbers on gears are 38-T and 27-T, now that i type that, I think that is most likely the tooth count. Either way, see photos, anyone parting out an old speedometer?

Get them 3D printed or have a machine shop make them in metal.

OK, appears when the engine was converted the entire "dashboard" was changed out. We actually have a CF7 and the speedo was changed out during the conversion. Never the less, you see the photos. Does anyone have a locomotive on permanent display with that type of speedo in it? the two gears are behind a cover and would never be missed.

Might have to, was hoping for someone to have one setting around that has no plans to ever work again. The gears are inside and would not affect the display value of the unit.

You’ll need to contract someone to design the new gears in 3D software. Designing gears isn’t very complicated but if done wrong the gears will wear out quickly. Your gears look hefty enough to be printed and last a while. Thicker is sometimes better if there’s room. Nylon would be a good material.

Disclaimer: no expert here but I’ve checked into the possibility of doing gears for something else a couple years ago. Cost? No clue.

I've seen the antique car guys use 3D printing to make gears and parts. These should be a piece of cake. Just document the surviving parts well!
