DuPont 546 Green, Dodge Truck Bell Green, represented by the fan deck card closest to my thumb, would probably be the more likely choice between the two Bell Greens since it remains a popular Imron color to this day. I'll let you Northern Pacific guys try to figure that one out but I'd be happy to donate a coin to flip. LOL The NPRHA sample does look more like the cleaner Studebaker version above it, however. We haven't covered the darker grays as of yet but that roof color appears very similar to the almost-black dark slate gray the Great Northern used with the Big Sky Blue scheme...

The dark green on Lake Whatcom's NP cars is actually the lighter Brewster Green Medium, identical to the Reading's...

Santa brought me The Reading Shops puzzle for Christmas since I enjoy puzzles, apparently. The box lid is actually very close to DuPont 1290 Venetian Yellow if you can get it lined up right with the paint chip...

Yeah, I'm not sure if that was one of those happy accidents or not but since I'm on this color once again... Thanks to the big binder full of Imron, we now have the General Motors code for DuPont 1290 Venetian Yellow which is WE5549. This is an RYPN exclusive, as this listing is nowhere to be found anywhere else, including PaintRef... LOL https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetai ... ode=WE5549 In addition, an Imron stock number is provided, AU-1290U. We also have an update on the very similar seventies and eighties version of this color, DuPont 44782. According to Chevrolet and GMC dealer brochures, it was officially called "Colonial Yellow" and the Imron stock number is AU-44782U. As with Venetian Yellow, here on this 1980 Colonial Yellow survivor, we can see some of that funky peachy pink color reflecting off the hood...

Here's Colonial Yellow as represented on a 1982 Chevy Truck paint brochure. If any other color could be considered as an acceptable substitute for DuPont 1290 Venetian Yellow, that would be it...

Having recently discovered the New Haven used Socony Red is what got me back on this one. Like I stated before, it's the only color on the fleet charts that looks anything like the Lehigh Valley's Cornell Red I remember, a very distinctive orange-red tinted with either blue or green...

Current thinking is the earlier Cornell Red is the slightly lighter General Motors WE5884 and DuPont 5451 while the later version would be the slightly darker WE5880 and DuPont 35405...

I'm beginning to see how and why these carnelian reds can really mess people up. LOL Here they are over American LaFrance Red, a.k.a. Ford Truck Rangoon Red, DuPont 93-95616. They don't look anything like each other in real life but they do here. We can also see some of that purplish maroon-like cast appearing on both of the fan deck cards...

DuPont 35405 made it into one of the Imron aviation paint chart brochures. In this shot, it actually looks more like Cornell Red is supposed to, at least as far as I'm concerned. 7455 is the Burnt Orange used on JB Hunt's container trailer frames... https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetai ... upont=7455 http://www.greggfuhriman.com/JBHunt-vehicles.html 4992 is Crimson, a dark red which matches DuPont 002. The Ditzler/PPG equivalent, 2909, was used on Chrysler products in 1969 and 1970 as R6 Red... https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcoded ... &sname=Red 6202 Green is on the corner in the upper left and that's the ACL's violet color bottom center...

I can't tell you guys how crazy I might get conducting behavioral studies on the Socony Reds, but WE5880 will begin to darken before WE5884 under lowered indirect sunlight. Hit them both with an additional camera flash, however, and they pretty much look the same...
