Oh boy, here we go...

According to the Pullman Notebook, this color is not Pullman 70-10 Pullman Green. Instead, it's Pullman 70-49. In the notes concerning the colors not illustrated, "70-49 Northern Pacific dark green (1947) is less yellow than 70-10 Pullman green."

You guys can probably guess what I'm thinking now... LOL

The notes do designate 70-10 as the Great Northern's dark green so I can definitely get onboard with that. The problem is, the 1947 dark green card provided by the NPRHA does appear to closely match 70-10 as printed so, as they say, somethin' ain't right here...

93-2015 Brewster Green is obviously less yellow than 70-10 Pullman Green so now what? LOL

Yeah well, I can always put the NPRHA 1947 light green with Brewster just to see what it looks like. I do believe it's a more visually appealing combination if that helps...

I had picked up a 1946 DuPont truck catalog recently as well. Here's the Santa Fe's 373 Yellow which Mack Truck used during the war as a substitute for their own yellow...

https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcoded ... ont=93-373

373 looks just like Diamond Yellow except a shade lighter. It is slightly darker than 6808 and was called Federal Yellow when offered by International Harvester later in the sixties. John Deere and Massey-Ferguson have used it also. The Ditzler/PPG code is 81518...

HMMMM, I'll have to try this one again sometime. The ATSF did have trouble with their original Super Chief scarlet fading out, though. On the Reading, all that road grime may have helped protect it from the sun a little better. LOL Gloomy weather helps, also.

These two boats are the Delaware and Schuylkill out of Port Richmond...

The tugs were to move carfloats from Port Richmond (Phila) to Camden, and coal barges from the McMyler dumper at Port Richmond to electric generating stations along the river.

There was another carfloat operation from Wilmington DE to Deepwater NJ, but that tug would be based at Wilmington.

As of 2020, the Delaware was laid up down in Chester, Phil. I wonder if it's still there and relatively intact...

http://www.tugboatinformation.com/tug.cfm?id=11364

If it is, we should try to save it. Seriously. I absolutely love tug boats and hey, who else has one preserved? Perhaps start a tourist float operation at Blue Marsh... LOL

Harbor locomotives they are...

Here is some of my Dodge Truck Toreador/Brite Red pieces parts and Reading #94940 together. 93-92114 Toreador/Brite Red and 93-2622 GMC Pimpernel Scarlet are located adjacent to one another on the 1967 fleet chart and, if you recall, Scarlet is just ever-so-slightly lighter...

Railroad tugs had high pilothouses to see over the cars on the floats, which were usually tied alongside the tug for better maneuverability. (one on each side)

Some buyers lowered the pilothouses but it looks like Delaware still has her high pilothouse.

Does anyone else feel funny calling a tug named Big Daddy "she/her"?

These days, you can use any pronoun you want as long as it's on the pre-approved list, Phil. LOL Fmnut just posted a "remastered" version of his Reading marine operations video now featuring Wilmington and films of the coal dumper at Port Reading in New Jersey. He also added more color shots of the boats as well...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thg-sm5bUPU

The sad news is, however, that one of the commenters reports the Brandywine was scrapped last year.

This morning, I was looking at the New Haven's Brewster green which generally appears to be lighter than the Reading's so perhaps that one is the equivalent of 93-24166, the Mack Truck version...

Just to show you guys what I believe I'm seeing here. At least on the New Haven, as far as I know, it was always referenced as "Brewster". LOL 24199 pops up quite often on that tractor and implement code listing I had posted earlier so it does seem to have a history to it.

Then, I was looking at pics of Great Northern's EP-4's and ran across this, finally, a decent example of the GN's Pullman Green that actually looks a lot like Pullman Green does in person...
