That south Jersey down-the-shore environment is rough on old Dodge trucks as well. People too if they spent too much time in Wildwood like I did. Those 2000-series GP-38's are notable for having dual controls and extended cabs like the Reading's SD-45's. Here's another rare shot, Phil, a relatively clean #2001!!!... LOL

Now if I finagle that one just a little bit, the paint looks just like the WE5870 Green card from the fan deck...

Mr Uebele's book is a bit helter-skelter but not nearly as bad as this thread is. LOL

Like American Brunswick Green, the Pullman colors had no real apparent standard and no samples of the Pullman colors provided to the author were exactly alike...

https://chestofbooks.com/home-improveme ... nting.html

Mr. Uebele does describe specific recipes for both Locomotive Finish Black and Locomotive Enamel Brunswick Green in this chapter, however...

https://chestofbooks.com/home-improveme ... Black.html

Bear in mind that the Chrome Green used is the mixture of Chrome Yellow and Prussian Blue and not Chromium Oxide Green.

Back to slightly more modern times for a moment, here's PRR #5833 with the metallic lettering and striping up against the WE5870 card. I'll definitely be investigating this one further...

And note on this articulated Centipede (BP60) diesel, the carbody is dark green while the frame is black.

Yeah Phil, you can really see the difference there which isn't easy in most other old color pics of Pennsy equipment. DuPont 005/88/99 Black, being the nice deep dark carbon black that it is, would be a modern equivalent of Locomotive Finish Black.

The earlier versions of Brewster Green and American Brunswick Green were both made from Ivory or Bone Black so that would account for the white and orange tinting colors added to a modern mix. Bone Black contains only about 12 to 15 percent carbon so it's lighter and typically has a brownish cast to it.

Reading steam locomotive cab interiors were black as far as I know but Eric does have 6202 Green listed for the NYC.

Next up out of Mr Uebele's book, we're going to be looking very hard at a color called "Pale Golden Ochre"...

https://chestofbooks.com/home-improveme ... Japan.html

The graduated shades of golden ochre are in the column to the right...

Chevrolet Cream Medium and the Reading's original light yellow could very well be that exact same color...

Venetian Yellow appears to be a slightly darker shade of Golden Ochre as well...

1251 was the Reading Shop Switcher until late 1963/early 1964. Note the big passenger chime whistle.

716 was the Reading Shop Switcher in the 1970's and was the last operating Baldwin on RDG.

1251 is at RRMPA at East Strasburg and 702 is at RCT&HS' Museum at PRR Hamburg.

LOL Phil!!! Strasburg suddenly became a really good idea last Saturday morning so off I went...

The lettering color currently applied to #1251 is a yellow ochre very close to 014 Imitation Gold and perhaps the slightly lighter Ford Sandpiper Yellow...

I did find a Cream Medium match, however, but that was with PRR H6 #2846...

Keep in mind the fan deck Cream Medium actually matches 93-5925 Cream from the 1954 DuPont catalog and not 93-530 Cream Medium like it otherwise should. The slight difference between the two could be indicative of a pale golden ochre, as described by Mr. Uebele, versus a pale yellow ochre.

The Reading cab models are actually fairly close to Venetian Yellow. It might exactly match if it was applied over white instead of a locomotive black or Brewster Green...

The lettering on Reading M.U. #800 appears to be laser-cut vinyl so no help there but I did resist the overwhelming urge to pick at a corner to verify that. LOL It does appear a bit lighter than 014 Imitation Gold and Mr. Uebele was right, oranges do look good with Brewster Green...

No wonder I'm having so much trouble finding any other yellows besides the Lemon, it's all 93-1290 GMC Venetian Yellow. LOL

From steam up into the seventies...

Back to more Strasburg stuff in a moment...

While I was looking at Audrey's green, I ran across this one. If NS used 1317 (WE5646) or even 6202 (WE5645) as the green on #1067, that would place WE5768 as 5800, the Southern Sylvan Green. WE5763 is Seacrest Green second from left and WE5650 is Morat Green all the way to the right.

WE5768 appears to be a slightly darker Singer/Seven-Up Green and it is located in the right spot on the Martin-Senour color chart compared to the 1969 DuPont sheets on PaintRef.

The fun just never stops... LOL

Now I'm wondering if NS didn't put the 1973 green on there instead... LOL

According to this comprehensive DuPont implement paint code listing I found last night, 93-6202 is indeed Oliver Meadow Green...
