Those are standard National City Lines colors. Nickname was "fruit salad." Baltimore later eliminated the green and had a yellow with white roof paint scheme.

Philadelphia Transportation Company was also NCL controlled but painted its vehicles green, sourced from MAB Paints, a local company. Name of the green paint? "Bus Green"

Bus Green looks to be a little darker, Phil, almost like Studebaker Lebanon Green. I see an orange stripe there also unless that's Grande Gold looking real orangey like it does sometimes. LOL

U-Haul orange would be a good one to know since that one hasn't changed at all...

The only potential alternative example of 014 Imitation Gold I've found so far is a later Goetz Beer color listed as "93-014 Gold". If I were to describe the 95-014 chip as I see it, however, I would say it's more like a lightly-roasted peanut butter...

The reason I say "potential", Eric, is most, if not all, of those 1942 95-series suffix numbers aren't lining up with the 1954 93-series suffix numbers in relation to the chip color. For instance, 95-002R Red is distinctly lighter than 93-002R Red. As a matter of fact, and I believe you'll be highly interested in this one, 95-002R actually matches both Brockway Truck Red, 93-72144 (Plate #35), and your Western Maryland flaming meatball color, 93-066H Red, which is Plate #169 in the 1955 11A supplement book.

Many of these different-numbered 93-series fleet reds match each other, like those two Armour Yellows, so, in reality, there are far less of them than one might think. Same with some of those darker greens and blues also. LOL

EDIT: Autocar Radiant Red, 93-674H Red, Plate #36, matches this color as well.

95-019 Light Blue might be a good candidate for the Reading's pre-war Crusader blue also but get this, Eric. Remember that "breaking news" awhile back concerning those two New York Central drift cards? Well, there could be a bit of a story behind those...

https://nycshs.files.wordpress.com/2014 ... ndlook.pdf

Scroll down to Page 10 where he's writing about "Opex Blue". Turns out 95-019 is very close to an exact match for 93-3430 Blue...

93-005 is Black but 95-005 is Light Green. This color is slightly lighter than 93-1317 but very close to 93-6202, my suspected late Reading green. There may be a slight shade difference but I'd need to see a 6202 chip myself to verify. The hue angles do match up so far. These are closeups of scans with 005 from my scanner and an enhanced 6202 from Paintref...

When you look at it this way, 6202 on the right does indeed appear to be slightly lighter (and greener) than 1317 on the left. Colors on the top of my monitor will look a bit darker in relation to the bottom from where I sit so this corrected that. LOL

So then, I suppose 95-005 and 93-6202 are the same color but I'd still like to see the actual chips side-by-side.

What the heck, since this is a Reading thread, LOL, I guess this looks like a good spot to throw in a decent pic of the LEMTU...

What I can do is post my scans of the 95-005 and 93-1317 chips together. There is an obvious difference to the naked eyeball but how and why they can be confused with each other is readily apparent...

014 Imitation Gold and 42831 can turn into golden orange-yellows when oversaturated so that's not making this any easier... LOL

Seriously Eric, there's some happenin' stuff happening here. LOL

From the 1974 sheets, this is Diamond-REO Meadow Green, 6711. Just a short hair darker than the 95-005 chip, it still falls right into place compared to the 1317 chip being slightly lighter and greener. For the era of the Reading's Green Machines, I have a very strong feeling this would be the more modern equivalent of 93-6202 and the correct color...

This guy did a nice job on an AMT Diamond-REO Raider model but instead of Meadow Green, he made it Krylon John Deere Green, which is basically the equivalent of 5316...

https://public.fotki.com/mackinac359/di ... amond-reo/

When you hear of "Meadow Green", however, that's also the name of one of the old Oliver tractor greens so here's RDG #3416 again with an Oliver Super 88 resto...

The tractor greens were a little messy but I think I have those sorted out now. 5316 is the lighter John Deere green, 6202 is the newer Oliver green, a John Deere darker green, and was also a Case color. 1317 is an older Oliver green.

If you coordinate these with the classic old Rustoleum colors, 5316 is H-3, 6202 is H-12, and 1317 is H-26...

https://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcoded ... um&rows=50

Pretty cool, huh? LOL

Back to that lettering and striping chart, I would hope to find a newer postwar version of that someday which might be helpful in some regard. Anyway, 95-017 Orange is not Omaha Orange but instead, Federal Truck Orange...

I've never covered 93-6808 Yellow so before I forget again that would be Brockway Truck Yellow as well as PennDOT's yellow. Also here in PA, Weis Markets used that color back when they were painting their rigs yellow and brown.

93-54701 Yellow is a color I haven't found very many uses for as of yet besides the Alaska and Iowa Interstate railroads along with Fruehauf. It is listed in the 1963 reference book as the Future Farmers of America "Gold", however.

Messing around with old tractor colors, one of the messiest is that old Caterpillar Hi-Way Yellow used from 1935 up until about 1979 or so. If you want even more good ol' quality paint-matching entertainment, take a look at some of those threads like this one...

http://www.acmoc.org/bb/showthread.php? ... int-thread

So anyway, that's 6808 on the left and 54701 on the right...
