I'm certain they will find a nice home there.

Aren't they the ones that owned two Pennsylvania E8's a few years ago?

I'm glad these seem to be finding good homes.

Ex-PRR E8s 5706 and 5898 were hosted on the Blue Mountain & Reading RR (Not the Reading & Northern) back in the 80s, but if I remember right, they were owned by a private individual, not the BM&R. 5898 still operates on the St, Louis Iron Mountain & Southern tourist railroad in Missouri but 5706 was gutted and is now used as a restaurant in Alabama, painted in Southern Railway colors.

Photos today indicate the two purchased by the RBMN have had NS markings painted over and small RBMN reporting marks added above the numbers for shipment out of Altoona to Reading and interchange with R&N.

RUMORS state that the other two NS Tuxedo F's failed to attract bids or reserves, and are still for sale. Other rumors say the RBMN paid somewhere in the mid-six-figures (in dollars) for the two that they did get.

Here's a picture of 5706 on her way south, in 1999:

I'm not sure when Andy Muller sold these locomotives -- but I'll bet many of you do.

My understanding is that the locomotive was moved from the Sumiton 'wedding chapel' a while ago, but I don't remember where it went (other than it wasn't planned to be scrapped)

If you think moving equipment is fun, you should see the topography around the spot where this engine was. I would NOT want the job.

I remember a few years ago Ozark had a few totally rebuilt F units from some railroad in Canada. Those ended up selling for something like $800,000 a piece. Hard to believe some F units can't even get $65,000 and others are selling for six figures.

PRR #5706 now resides in a strip mall parking lot in Irondale, AL, cosmetically restored to SOU colors (but no road number). I believe the BBQ restaurant the that used it originally has now folded, I'm not sure what it's being used for now.

The 1999 picture above looks like as high as it's riding that the prime movers and other internal components have already been removed.

I wonder how much internal damage has been done? Modifications that would make re-powering it as an active E8 impossible?

Good question, but there would probably be easier E-units to restore.

I imagine if one were to do a Union Pacific style rebuild, her hollowed out condition could be an advantage since she's already stripped and thus it's one less thing they'd have to do before proceeding.

Of course nobody is likely to come calling for an E unit shell to install a modern diesel and components into.

Here are some of the few exterior fireman's side pics I could find online.
Pretty much intact except one ugly thing, after the deck was built beside the engine they cut a full size door opening where the engine room door was. Good bye structural integrity. ):

Not sure what it looks like inside now that it's been converted again, this time for use as an escape room.

Nothing a little welding can't fix. Concern yourself with the lack of esthetic taste instead. What self respecting diesel engine or generator would want to be in that space?
