Post subject:  Remembering Josh Lepman
RyPN readers with a history with the former ARM may remember Josh Lepman. Josh was an expert in track maintenance.

In preparation for the 50th anniversary at National Capital Trolley Museum, I found this photo of Josh with Museum member Norman Nelson. Based on details in the photo the picture was made in 1968 during construction of the first section of the Museum demonstration railway. This location is now returning to woodlands after the Museum relocated the demonstration railway in 2010 as part of construction of a new campus. Josh and Norman died a few years ago.

I was not aware that Josh Lepman had passed away. I remember working with him at NCTM and I believe we leased his tamper once. He was a good instructor and I recall he was full of interesting tales about Amtrak's Northeast Corridor.

Attached is a photo of Josh circa 2000 enjoying lunch while assisting in the construction of McClane Loop at Pennsylvania Trolley Museum.

Josh was a great guy with great stories to share.

I did'nt know Josh as well as some but i remember first meeting him during the early 1970's when i became a member of BSM. At that time i was working on the track in front of the former Ma & Pa round house. Later we worked with George Voith to remove the West Baltimore St. loop which BSM uses today.If i recall correctly BSM has named the loop for him. I again met Josh when i came back to BSM after a near 30 year absence to work on 3828 and then 390 (BSM's 5885) Josh had a lot to do with BSM's second track and the excellent trackwork BSM has.
