I ran across a interesting Facebook post about a lake in Missouri that at the turn of the century was a quarry. Interestingly they found a odd steamer (a 4-4-0), but unlike any 4-4-0 I have ever seen. It’s not a standard gauge, maybe narrow or other industrial gauge. It looks to me like a late 1800s Vulcan. Why would industrial gauge railroads use a 4 lead truck design in the first place? Hopefully someone can shed some light on this mystery.

That doesn’t look like an engine (lead) truck to me. Seems to resemble a Heisler truck.

Doesn't look like any real steam engine to me. Looks like a fabricated shape for a road-side attraction or some such. Even looks like it may have been permanently mounted on H-beam 'track', maybe was up in the air on a pole. There is nothing about it that suggests a properly engineered working steam locomotive. At best possibly a gas/mechanical amusement, but with those wheels I doubt even that. Just because it was found in an old mine site doesn't mean it was from there. Old flooded quarries are great places for the unscrupulous to dump their junk.

This has been discussed before. It is a fake put there for divers to look at.
