I picked up an Ashton wheel press recording gage on ebay. It needs a couple of parts but I think I can find them. 70 pounds!

Anyone remember the Spanish American war? I recently purchased a trade show giveaway.

Rick,

I follow the Stockton Locomotive works on Facebook and they posted pictures of them using a rare Ashton Valve Company Quartering Tool, so I thought I'd share the link here:

There may be some other pictures of it in use in the surrounding posts.

For those of us that don't have a FB account, try this: https://www.facebook.com/Stocktonlocomotiveworks/

The link that I sent ( https://www.facebook.com/15179550185186 ... 501305251/ ), opened in an incognito window for me, so I don't believe that you need a Facebook account to see what I posted. But with Facebook, who knows how it will perform on different devices!

I'm probably the mutant user case, since I'm running on Linux.... :)

Thanks for the heads up. That's one piece I would love to have in my collection!

I recently picked an an Ashton illuminated pressure gage with translucent glass to alow the light to pass through the gage face. The electrical element is missing but it looks like it could be replaced without too much difficulty.

1522 uses Ashton safety valves. They were getting close to "end of life" and the biggest problem we had was getting springs. The springs were old and could be a pain as they would vary a few pounds popping. Nobody wanted to make new ones because of the rectangular spring stock.

I wonder how long the valves were in use

Here's the gage illuminated. I'm missing the piece that would have hidden the shadow of the Bourdon tube in the center of the gage. I might have to rig something up.
