Does anyone have any tips and tricks for adjusting the clutch on a Plymouth DL? There's not a lot of "throw" on the pedal and it doesn't completely disengage.

Thanks,

Its been a long time since I did it but you go under the locomotive, open a panel on the bottom of the bell housing and it can be adjusted... I may have instructions in my Plymouth stuff... and will look, eventually...

As built its a multi plate, steel, fiber/asbestos, steel, fiber/asbestos. repeat repeat...

I am considering having some of the fiber plates made... if others are interested please contact me...

I have two different operator's manuals for a Plymouth DL... both include clutch adjustment instructions.... one from the earlier version with a multi plate clutch, the second with a more automotive clutch.

Eric, PM me with an email and I will send copies of both as PDF's

Never adjusted a clutch on a Plymouth but check all the pivot points in the clutch linkage for wear such as the clevises and pins. If worn they could add to the problem of the clutch not fully releasing.

Thanks. We'll double check that when we get under it to adjust the clutch and take up a little extra slack in the chains. All new hardware throughout, though. Only eight hours on the meter since the rebuild four years ago so everything is just now starting to settle in. Outside of a few teething issues, it runs really nice.
