What they did with this car is actually super cool, a well-thought out use of space (there are a few dozen photos here, if you click on the first one it should give you a right arrow to look through them all). It's really only preservation in that the car still exists, but in say 50 years time lightweight cars might be rare:

The most important fact is that they are serious about maintaining the weatherproofing of the cars. The cars appear to be well maintained. Certainly much better looking than most of the cars we see.
