No, not Southern 2-8-0 #401. This past weekend, the museum had their 30 ton Industrial Brownhoist oil fired crane working. The old rusty and leaking water tanks in Canadian National steam generator car #15421 were being removed, to be replaced by some newly built tanks. Bates & Rogers Construction crane #11442 was built in 1944. I'm wondering if its number might be its builders number? I also wonder if any fans might have been at MRM this past weekend and gotten some photos of the crane in action?

John T -

Thanks for the photos. I took the built date of 1944 from the MRM equipment roster.

When I heard that the crane was fired up, I also wondered if it was the only steam fired crane operating in the United States last weekend.
