The site is nice. The GoFundMe amount should be much lower and at a much more attainable level. A locomotive rebuild is a massive project made up of many smaller parts. How much is the running gear work? Tender rebuild? Tubes and flues? Air pumps, etc? You can only eat an elephant one bite at a time. Publishing those estimates and rallying support around each segment is a better approach. Aim small, miss small. |

CNR should take a role in restoring this locomotive. Not only could they do it and never miss the money, it would speak well to their recent centennial. 6060 did wonders for Canada in the years it ran as a restored locomotive. Need I state it, look at Union Pacific's positive coverage! |

That's a lot of good information in just 3 posts. Looks like a fresh start for the engine. After Steam Expo in 1986, the engine had some major work done at the BCR Steam Shop. Before returning to Alberta. July 2001 in the rain, outside the Stettler shop. (Both my photo's) Rebuild long overdue. Truly hope it all works out. Best part to the story...After rebuilding...it has track to run on, and will be useful.

Meantime, just to get everyone in the mood for seeing the prototype operate again, you can drool over perhaps one of the finest live steam models of any locomotive ever. Truly a work of art and labor of love. This just blows me away. It's a regular at Train Mountain. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiTkqMkrn7o |
