Mahoney Machine & Fabrication (MMF) is pleased to announce the addition of additive manufacturing to its manual milling and turning capabilities.

As of May 1, 2019 MMF started taking orders for its new resin SLA printer that has the capability to produce better quality and a more homogenous part compared to other additive processes. SLA printing works on the principal of curing resin such that it eliminates the laminated layers often seen in FDM printing. Due to an SLA printer producing better quality parts we choose this printer to provide better products for our customers. In addition our machine has a large material library and capability to reproduce parts reliably within a tight tolerance.

Applications for this technology in the railroad preservation industry include but are not limited to:

Non-critical replacement parts
Traditional casting patterns
Lost wax style casting patterns

The machine dimensions and capabilities are shown below:

Build Area: 5.700”x - 5.700”y - 6.900”z ( parts can also be printed off the build platform in order to increase print capacity)
Layer Height Resolution: 25, 50 or 100 microns

Available materials and colors are numerous. Some standard materials are shown below but please contact us about other materials for further details.

Standard color resins include:
Clear ( glass substitute )

Custom Resins
Castable Wax Resin (This resin contains a 20% wax content with zero ash for a clean and complete burn out.)
