Not starting a new thread on this because it goes to the lack of a permanent indoor facility for housing historic transportation artifacts in NJ as described by the OP. Artifact vandalism can happen at a secured indoor museum site with cameras and alarms but, as the article states, this is the second time in two years that equipment stored outside in NJ Transit's Boonton yard have been hit.

Donations to repair the damage can be made here:

There is a tall chain link fence surrounding the property, it wouldn't have made much of a difference if it were indoors. The Boonton property is in a good area but kids love throwing crap at shiny new toys unfortunately. Like the article says there is a $5000 reward involved not including the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement. We'll find the brats and their folks will pay for the damages. Nothing new to see here gentlemen.

The linked post references previous 2017 damage done with spray paint. As to the current damage, this article states,"Asked about the damage, Terence Mulligan, who has been overseeing the restoration effort, said it appears someone propped a ladder against the car and used a rock to smash windows." Neither episode is reported to have involved anyone throwing anything and both involved actions taken from inside the fence so your comment appears to be baseless.

This isn't the first time we've dealt with vandalism as you've noted. There is an indoor facility on-site operated by Ray Clauss where the coach was being worked on, it was left outside awaiting shipment to Whippany. It's a pain but it's not the end of the world Scranton. For a large collection like the URHS an indoor facility simply isn't in the budget. You're more than welcome however to send us a charitable donation.
