While in Sacramento CA last month I noticed a locomotive named "Jupiter" on a flat-bed trailer. Isn't that engine the J W Bowker? Doesn't it belong to the CSRMF? Where was it being shipped? Just curious...
I believe this is the engine that masqueraded as the "Jupiter" for the "Wild, Wild West" movie that was released last summer.
The "Bowker" did indeed play the "Jupiter" for the movie version of "Wild Wild West". Ex-Virginia and Truckee #11 "Reno" did the honors as Union Pacific (Eastern Pacific in the movie for some reason) #119. I heard through the grapevine that the "Reno" was damaged in the fire at Old Tucson last year. Does anybody have any details? Apparently they did a cosmetic job on her for the movie and rigged her to "explode" for the filming (live action as well as computer enhanced). Check out this web site for more details on the movie and TV series rail equipment.
