Between NS 1616 and the NNRy VO-1000 there are Baldwins coming back to life everywhere. And 8-cylinder ones at that!

Maybe I should hang on to my Baldwin reverser.

Back in the 1980s I wrote a proposal to get that done which went nowhere. Great it finally happened. Thanks.

Back in 1980 I took a 'Chicago Baldwin tour', not necessarily as a raging Baldwin fan but what was available that day... and saw about every one from Gary to Union...

The assorted Baldwin DRS's were at Rail to Water Transfer, said disposition to Chrome Crankshaft in 1984, presume scrapped?

The irony was that even on that day, back in 1980, we never saw ONE running.

Worth pointing out that NS #1616 is one of the two AS416s built with GE electrical gear

I assume NS 1617 was the other one. They both have the higher, late production hoods. Do they have WABCO air controls or GE electric?

Where in the world are people getting parts for a Baldwin prime mover?

I know in the case of the Nevada Northern VO-1000, SMS found them a complete, near-zero runtime 808 that was configured as a stationary generator but rarely ever run. There was a pretty cool picture of it being unloaded at the NN by their steam derrick behind the Alco RS-3.

Speaking of Baldwins, isn't there a Warner Sand and Gravel switcher at the Allentown and Auburn? It might be a little lower on the priority list than the LNE Alco, just guessin'..

Sources show ALLN 14 is ex-Warner Sand and Gravel 14, C/N 74785 4-1950, DS 4-4-750, 6-cylinder 606NA engine (3 stacks).
