Hi All
Richards post got me going and many years ago, there was an EX New Haven Tender, sitting down at the EX New Bedford engine terminal, in New Bedford, Mass, sense 1952. The tender was the original tender to locomotive # 1388, an I-4 Pacific.
The Tender was sent to New Bedford for the storage of Fuel Oil for Diesels. The Tender was in the old railyard for many years, until it got scrapped.

That's a shame. Would have been a nice A tank.

Re the ex-NH tender...
It was supposed to be preserved as part of the "South Coast Rail" expansion of the MBTA commuter rail to Fall River/New Bedford. I don't know what changed (other than the commuter rail expansion put on hold) but they instead scrapped the tender when they cleaned up the rail yard. I am not sure if it was offered to anyone for preservation. Supposedly it still had oil/fuel in it, which complicated its removal.

It was a shame to loose it since no true New Haven steam survived.

Hi
Just to add from the last post, I read either in the Mass Bay RRE Callboy, or the 470 Railroad club newsletter. That the Tender was supposed to be saved because of the city of New Bedford, wanted it, to be part of the yard renewal.
But the contractor didn't get the message, and the tender got scrapped, on site. Maybe someone from New Bedford can add to this post.

There used to be an ex-Soo tender in the CP yard in Minot, ND. Don't know what happened to it. Not sure this one counts, but at Carrington is an ex-Milwaukee tender converted to a snow plow.

My favorite Re-purposed tender / Caboose cupola. The San Louis Southerns D500 Locomotive.
