Greetings.

The Berkshire Scenic Railway Museum is in the process of restoring a Howard bell for our 1941 B&M SW-1. We are installing the original copper tubing from the top of the bell to the trunnion but are unsure of the cylindrical piece at the top? What is this and where can it be procured?

Thank you!

Brent,

I suspect it may have been a speed control device, designed to limit the amount of air into the ringer. there are commercial units available from SMC for one, but will not be a direct replacement.
