Interesting. I wonder what the owner plans to do with her?

WRCA has CP Rail tender 5818. From pacific 2366. This tender is still available and is my pick for the 5361 as an A-tank. https://www.atrrm.org/2016/07/wcra-to-thin-its-collection/

The owner has been buying up equipment around the country like crazy. Nobody seems to know why or what his plans are.

You asked specifically about a CPR tender. I know of a handful of CNR tenders around. Are you in the market for one or are you just curious?

Specifically doing research to see what is available to make a water tender for CPR 5361 assuming CPR decides to save her at the last minute.

You're assuming CPR has an interest in acquiring more steam beyond the Hudson. Yes, it would be fantastic. Yes, they were interested in reacquiring both 3100 & 3101 at one time. 3100 is not accessible, so count that one out. 3101 was owned by a scrap yard, but not in danger. It required abatement at the time. I have no hard evidence that it's been sold or moved. As far as the Mike goes, it would be a coup for the owner and we railfans/preservationists. Other than some wishful thinking and wishful engineering, where is the hard evidence that anyone has an interest in purchasing the Mike?
Before this speculation goes further, we need a reality check.

The large tender used as an A tank behind CP 2860 is ex-D&H. Acquired when CP owned D&H.

The 3101 in the scrapyard was sold, along with a quantity of ex-CN and ex-CP passenger equipment from throughout the Midwest, to an individual named Gary Southgate of South Battleford, SA. As far as I know he hasn't done anything with any of it, despite purchasing them over 5 years ago.

Richard, All I am going to say is I have a person who is in contact with CPR working on trying to save the 5361. I can't say anymore.

I seem to recall Expo Rail having a smallish CPR tender? Am I dreaming?

Can we change the name to Lists of Surviving Canadian tenders without their locomotives? I am thinking we should include CNR tenders in the list.

Inaccessible as in physically or politically? It isn't physically, but not an easy task. Other locomotives have been removed from the building before including CPR 1201 and CNR 5700.

There is a CNR auxiliary tender at the Alberta Railway Museum north of Edmonton, as well as one in Hillsborough, New Brunswick. I believe there was also one stored with the locomotives in Galt, IL a few years ago. I don't know where it is now.

Would be politics. If they got in the building they can get her back out.

Regarding 3100; Consider both issues as valid. There's new construction behind the locomotive and the cost would exceed the funding needed to continue the museum's mission. Everything else will be placed inside the new building immediately behind the current locomotive display.
