Just wondering if anyone has ties to the The Stourbridge Line in PA? I would appreciate it if they knew about the situation with CPR EMD F7B 1018 and NRE's decision to scrap the locomotive instead of selling it for what ever reason. It's a real shame to loose 1018 after all these years.

I want to believe if the right folks came along with cash in hand and a sound plan to remove the 1018 at low risk that NRE would not sell the old gal. If scrap price was matched and beat what would NRE have to loose to not sell the loco if it was removed safely?

The Stourbridge Line recently bought the CPR 1019 NS sold to Cresson Steel along with former CPR/AMT 1304 and 1306 the two EMD F7A units from Ohio.

It would really make my day to see CPR 1018 survive and end up with 1019 and the 1304/1306. This would be the only true set of authentic CPR F units left running in A-B-B-A configuration in the world.

Save for one of the A units on CPR their other 3 are actually former CNR units and not true CPR F units.

Robert - you might start by contacting Jeffrey Hiller, President of the Greater Honesdale Partnership in Honesdale, PA. I think you can reach him via the Visitor Center/Train Depot at 570-470-2697. Jeffrey will know how to contact the owner of the Stourbridge Line. When we rode the trains this past summer we were behind a freshly restored F7 in Pennsylvania Pinstripe colors, so your dream of a CPR set may already be in tatters. You can see a run-by video at: the stourbridgeline.net

SThomas, Thanks for the contact info. The dream is to just save the other B unit at this time if at all possible. The paint scheme the locomotive receives is less important under the current circumstances.

Success, I got in touch with Jeffrey Hill and he's going to pass on the info to the owner of the railroad.

Any updates on the ex-Coe Rail F7A they purchased?

Former CNW 412 is known to be a basket case internally. I believe the ole girl is still stuck in the same location due to CSX not wanting to transport it without some repairs. Unless it's in PA now? I believe it's still stuck in the same location as the last report.

And one on 725. They were soliciting suggestions for a paint scheme so I am guessing she will eventually be restored?
