It is my sad duty to report that Richie Maggs, our Boiler Shop Supervisor and Pressure Vessel QC Manager, died suddenly of a massive heart attack yesterday afternoon while on duty at the Rail Road.

He was 43.

A railroader through and through, he had been here thriteen years, following other employment with railroads around Pennsylvania.

In my last one-on-one conversation with him the other day, he told me that he loved working here and didn't want to go anywhere else.

Life is short, sometimes shorter than others, but Richie left way too soon.

Awful news. My condolences to everyone is Richie's family and his extended railroad family. Way too young for sure.

Maybe it won't work out. But maybe seeing if it does will be the best adventure ever.

Very sorry to hear that Kelly.

For those of you that are middle-aged (or older) men, please learn the warning signs for heart attacks: https://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/hea ... oms-in-men

Chest pain is NOT the only one. The biggest factor in making you likely to have heart problems is family history. If your dad or mom had heart problems, you need to take extra care.

Such a shame. Richie was such a warm and friendly man at the SRC. I will truly miss him. Hope he has clear boards all the way home!

It's always too soon, even if we or our loved ones could make it to 110.

My condolences to you and to his family. I hope they will be OK.

Such terrible news about a good guy who had so much talent and so many years ahead of him taken so young.

Indeed, the whole industry will suffer from this event in that Richie spent a third or more of his time working on boilers and parts for other railroad's steam locomotives. That knowledge and experience is gone now. It's everyone's loss.
