Well, you have a little less than half the amount of work to do........

Little River was also the home to another "smallest" in that Little River #110 was the smallest standard gauge 4-6-2 ever built for domestic service. Interesting that when Skookum runs, two of the Little River engines will be in steam.

Last but not least, the Baldwin Spec sheets on file at the DeGolyer library list the paint scheme as Olive green with gold lettering. The copy of the microfilm is enclosed along with some remarks apparently by the Little River master mechanic regarding the locomotive, which I find difficult to read, but someone here may be able to decipher.

I lightened it and cleaned it up a bit, didn't help too much. A higher res scan would help. A couple of words are pretty tough. What I can get out of it is this:

"Mr Murphy, MM. reported the following -
Forward truck frame strikes engine frame just ahead of L.P. Cylinder on curve.
Lower end of lifting link strikes arm of (radius) link when in extreme forward motion.
Crosshead gib strikes radius rod when _____ in ___ (extreme) forward motion.
Front valve rod strikes valve rod guide when in forward (motion)."

You got more of it than I did. Unfortunately, the scan is what you get from the DeGolyer collection as it was done more than 30 years ago, but it was saved, and it is out there for us to glean data from.

Seeing photos of the Skookum under steam (and kicking myself for not going to the Lerro charter...) and reading that the Trains Magazine charter is the last opportunity to see her in Oregon, I'm just a bit curious what the plan is and why Oregon Coast couldn't run some public trips with the Skookum before she leaves?

And is the plan for the Skookum to operate on the Skunk line?

Skookum bent some stuff on her rods, so she's not running anywhere for a while until that's fixed.
I heard from a pal who went to poach on the Trains photoshoot that Skookum didn't actually run though she was in steam.

Yes, what I hear is that she didn't leave the yard but she was posed in the yard steamed up and whistling and such.

The photos and video I've seen of the other 2 locos along the line are simply breathtaking. I've been on a couple Lerro charters and he never fails to impress.

That was the Peter Lerro charter. The Trains Magazine charter is in March, costs $900 a person, and lasts two days. It’s being promoted as the last runs of the Skookum in Oregon.

So where is Skookum going after it leaves Oregon?

It's going to Willits, CA, which is where its owner lives.

Im not sure of any plan after that, and im not sure why it wasn't planned to operate some public non photo charter trips. I'd love to get to ride behind it in Oregon but the Lerro charter didn't fit my schedule and the trains shoot is already sold out.
