Its been all the rage here in Denmark this past week!

New build project, Odin, was unveiled to the public for the first time this past weekend, ending a 14 year project.

She has a few modern features, including an all welded boiler, double the operating pressure of the original (10 bar), and has a new built Worthington feed water pump hiding under the boiler. Having seen her both under construction and now alive, I can say shes impressively beautiful, and sounds fantastically strong with new D valves and any size load behind her!

Feedwater pump.... do you use any feedwater heating along with it? Seems that with twice the heat in the steam you could make some good use of the exhaust apart from making nice chuffing noises. It's a beauty, BTW.

Probably should have been a tad bit more clear with that! Its a Worthington duplex pump similar to those found in almost every smaller sized steam ships' machine room and on some logging engines. I think it would still be a feed water pump, just not a feed water heater pump...but I could easily have the terms all mixed up!

There was some experimental use of Worthington BL pumps here in Denmark however! A few of our heaviest consolidations for the state railway found them, but the largest application was on the state railways' P type Atlantic types.

A feed water heater on Odin would definitely be quite an interesting improvement, but very much an overkill investment. Unfortunately, it is almost set in stone that the locomotive will never come out to run on its original line, as it has no air brakes what so ever. Just a screw brake on the tender and the ability to throw the reverse into the opposite direction for a primitive dynamic brake.
