Hi all,

I'm working on a 1" scale wood caboose project, and I've decided on the material that I want to use for the roof of my caboose. However I'm not sure what the best practice for applying it, from an aesthetic perspective. I could certainly use some guidance.

I'm looking at doing a flat application of the roofing material. However, that doesn't seem likely. I would think that the roofing material comes in 2-3 foot wide rolls, and is applied accordingly.

Anyone happen to have photos of the installation of a new roof of their caboose?

I will gladly share photos of the final product (and maybe some progress photos) if we can get this rolling!

Thanks,
Mike Walsh

Hello
Not sure i understand your project but here is my full size one, i used EPDM rubber roofing 10ft wide, covers the roof in three full pieces with no seams, adhered with latex rubber roofing adhesive then metal drip edge and adhesive edge seam tape.

I would highly recommend the rubber roofing for full-size projects, we at the Alberta Railway Museum have used it to great success on several cars, and are currently installing it on our wood CN caboose, which is very similar to the one in Mike's photo.

In particular, the rubber has lasted over 25 years on one of our wood passenger cars and has required zero maintenance during that time.

This is the manufacturer we have used:
