CHEYENNE, WY - It is a great honor for Wasatch Railroad Contractors (WRC) to announce that Mayor Marian Orr has planned a special unveiling event for Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4004. The event will be held at Holliday Park, home of Big Boy No. 4004 on Monday, July 9, 2018 at 12:00 noon. All are invited to attend the special ceremony. As part of the celebration, key members of WRC will be speaking as well.

Team members of WRC have painstakingly worked for the past six months to remove asbestos from Big Boy No. 4004. In addition, a new boiler jacket has been added, and the locomotive has been environmentally stabilized. WRC completely repainted the locomotive using high-quality, durable paint products and should remain very presentable for a number of years moving forward. Lights on the locomotive have also been renewed which will allow the locomotive to shine at night. The project represents Mayor Orr's promise to beautify and preserve downtown Cheyenne, Wyoming. It has been our honor to participate in this project with the City of Cheyenne.

2019 marks the the 150th anniversary of the driving of the Golden Spike at Promontory, Utah. The deep and rich railroad history of Cheyenne is reflected in next year's historic celebration. This completion of Big Boy No. 4004 begins the ramp up to next year's celebrations and activities which honor the unification of our nation by steel rails.
