Golden Gate RR Museum has S.P. 141 "Oakland" business car. It was equipped a propane-powered Waukesha Ice Engine and Waukesha 32VDC generator (which was standard practice on the S.P.). After lots of work trying to make these function reliably for a 2-day daytime-only operation in very moderate California coastal weather, theyt still had failures in service. You can't operate an air-conditioned car with nonfunctional A/C. It rapidly becomes a sauna inside. GGRM has spent >$60k (maybe $90k?) retrofitting the car with a new Stadco diesel generator and railroad-grade A/C unit (from Northwest Electric?).

For a premium car you need reliable AC, you don't need any bad reviews online these days. That's the first thing people check now.
Is there extra capacity in the generator to power any other cars that it's coupled too?
