Was the MSTL Geep on display in Keithsburg scrapped after it fell into the floodwaters back in 2008?

Yes it was sadly, and so was the caboose.

Keep in mind though that the unit was not original M&StL and the caboose was not original CB&Q so it wasn't a big loss for local railroad history. From what I've heard, the owner of a shortline elsewhere in the state who had ties with Keithsburg painted and donated the equipment to the city for display but soon after got into some disagreements with the town board, so when the flood happened the city took advantage of it to get rid of a gift from their new enemy.
