Has anyone used Armstrong Oilers http://armstrongoilers.co.uk/ for 5x9 and/or 5.5x10 heavyweight passenger car journalboxes? Assuming that the Armstrong Oilers worked fine, is there a model # or part # for these, to use when ordering?

Thanks! - Doug Debs

We have used them sucessfully on smaller sizes, and in driving boxes, but haven't tried them in larger car journals yet. There is every reason to expect them to be successful.

In my experience, Armstrong is as ignorant of US standards as we would be of British ones if our roles were reversed.

What I have done with perfect sucess is to draw an isometric sketch of the envelope that the Armstrong Oiler is needed to fit into. Give them the diameter and length of the cylinderical portion of the journal, the length, width and shape of the of the bottom of the cellar box (if it isn't flat), and the height from the bottom center of the cellar to the 6 o'clock position of the journal. Armed with that info, every one that they have sent has worked out perfectly.

Hello Kelly:

Thank you for the guidance here! In early June I will create an isometric drawing for 5.5x10 heavyweight passenger car journal boxes, and send it with an RFQ to Armstrong Oilers.

Best regards,

Doug,

We may also need 5.5” x 10” oilers for passenger car journals. We will be interested to hear how these oilers work out in your application.
