The previous statement seems incorrect. EBT bought the passenger coaches from Boston, for sure. Did ET&WNC also buy Boston coaches? Or are you confusing coaches that went from Boston, to EBT, to ET&WNC?

No, the ET&WNC bought coaches from a railroad with the name of Revere in its name. The couplers didn't match the standard gauge height of the other ET rolling stock but theymade do anyway.

Both East Broad Top and ET&WNC bought Laconia built coaches from the Boston Revere Beach and Lynn. EBT #8 came from there as did ET&WNC 23.

Revere is the Boston road. So I guess both EBT and ETWNC bought those coaches at the same time. The Boston road, (Boston, Revere Beach, and Lynn) quit in 1940. Oh, if it could have only survived to the war!

I knew there was similarity. I figured it was either from the EBT post abandonment of service, pre excursion, or from the same operation the EBT purchased their coaches of similar design from initially....the BRB&L.

The windows and roof line match the #8.

The Boston, Revere Beach & Lynn utilized Miller Hook Couplers mounted at typical narrow-gauge height. It used Miller Hooks not only during its steam operation, but also to the end of its electrified operation on January 27, 1940. Probably the last use of these couplers.

It electrified in 1928 by converting much of its passenger car fleet to have electric motors, controls, etc. At that time or earlier is when it sold excess or old passenger cars to other 3-foot gauge operations.

Here are some on-line images of the electrified operation:
