Suggest you have a look at this...............

https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/straussee-ferry

Haven't actually seen it, but I know a couple of people who have travelled on it.

It's a good thing that the Motorman is not a conductor.

This is so much better than a lot of April 1st postings, and only a couple weeks too late. Who'd have believed it without photos?

Seriously, the ingenuity of the human mind is just amazing sometimes.

Something inside me is begging me to ask the question...

Did they use U-boats on the work trains when they did MOW work on that railroad?

As far as I know they just waited for low tide. Made the work windows pretty short!

Folks,
I am reading this long past April 1; but we have three boat cars here in the SF Bay area. The first one, #626 is at the Western Railway Museum. We leased it to the SF Muni and thye liked it so much that the went back to Blackpool and bought a couple more of them.

The MUNI usually runs them on E-Line between the AT&T Baseball Park and Fisherman's Wharf.

Not quite. MUNI modified their Boats to accommodate ADA compliant wheelchair gear, which necessitated the removal of one of the controllers. This, the cars are single ended and unsuitable for service on the E Line. You'll usually find them on the F Line, which has loops on both ends.
