Can anyone help identify this 0-8-0, displayed somewhere on the iron range in the late '60's? Just can't remember..

Wow, that is one sharp looking engine! But I gotta ask, what's with the headlight? Was that standard on those locomotives? |

Thanks, Mr. Lambert, and the headlight is because the engine worked in an iron mine for it's last few years. |

Actually, that headlight seems to have been popular on some modern steam switchers, including those in common carrier service. There are photos of modern C&O 0-8-0s with them, including a postwar series that was built with them. Source: http://www.columbusrailroads.com/new/?m ... ocomotives |

Looks like N&W ordered the same lights when they built their copies of the C&O engines, though that's hard to see with the number boards they also had. Source: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.p ... 26&nseq=84 |

Thanks for the info and pix. I'd never seen that style of headlight before. |
