Hi Kevin
I have photos of her at Steamtown, in Vermont, over the years, if that is any help to you?
I also did find some photos on the web, that you must already have, but will post anyway.

Thanks, Pat I have seen a few of those photos. Ive tried the Canada Museum of Science and Csrm library and a few other Porter collections so far I have come up short. I am hoping to find an elevation drawing and other technical info. If anyone knows of any Porter collections or any place to look I would appreciate it.

Kevin,

I had a similar issue, about not being able to find drawings out of the Canada library, when looking for records for certain Porters . What I did was then search for locomotives of the same class, design, and relatively close build dates. I had Canada library search those builder numbers and I got some results. I would recommend doing that. I browsed around on the steamlocomotive.info site to find comparable locomotives.

Hope this helps and good luck.
Jesse

Hi Kevin
I have something else for you, the information is taken from the book, Porter Steam locomotives Light & Heavy by National Model Railroad Association, published in 2001.
I think you can still find the book, on eBay or Amazon.
Kevin the part of the page where I cropped, is the information dealing with number # 38.
If I find any more information on locomotive I will post, or PM you.

You are correct. A search of the drawing lists does not turn up anything for serial number 5008. However, if this is a catalog locomotive drawings may exist but be associated with an earlier serial number for that particular design. You may want to look through Lehmuth's Porter roster and see if you can find earlier examples of the same locomotive then do the search again for those serial numbers.

Or possibly it is earlier than what the archives has records for.

Searching Porter List backwards from CN 5008, CN 4976, 4975, 4925, 4559, and 4529 appear to be 56-1/2 gauge 0-4-0T with 14x20 cylinders, 40 inch drivers.

CN 4559 built 6/1910 for Baugh & Sons.

CSTM appears to have an elevation drawing for CN 4559.

Folder Name Cylinder Size Drawing Number Loco Number
14A1 14x20 16522 4559

Checking other drawing records...

Hi Kevin
In your past post, you said you are looking to find a photo of the locomotive # 38 lettered for New Haven Trap Rock. In what I could find on the Web dealing with the company, the only locomotive to be lettered New Haven Trap Rock, was there number # 43.
This locomotive as you know is at Steamtown, in Scranton, Pa.
Now I am not saying that you will not find a photo, of # 38 lettered as such, but I am just going by for what I have found.
But the company was more or less a private company, and their locomotives did not venture out to the main line of the New Haven Railroad, to there siding only as needed. Just to set out cars, and pick up the empties.
Good Luck on Photo, and don't give up hope.

CSTM drawing records are not online. I have an inside contact. :)

Searching Porter List forward from CN 5008, CN 5193 appears to be 56-1/2 gauge 0-4-0T with 14x20 cylinders, 40 inch drivers.

CN 5193 built 10/1912 for Utah Construction

Folder Name Cylinder Size Drawing Number Loco Number
14A1 14x20 27142 5193

Although these locomotives share similar characteristics, I can't guarantee they're the same configuration. Sorry, I don't have direct access to the drawings, only the listing.

I suggest you contact CSTM Library and Archives Services.
