We are looking for a source for 60 watt 32 volt red sealed beam bulbs used in the LV 353 Business car marker lights. The previous one was made by Phillips, but I find no listing for it in their online catalog. Thank you for any leads.

What I have done in the past for unavailable colored bulbs is use stained glass dye.

It's a lacquer sold at craft stores, if you are in a hurry paint it on with the bulb lit.

It usually takes several coats.

Try TransLite. Unfortunately, I do not have a point of contact as I just learned today that they recently moved and are no longer located in Milford, CT.

Hi,

Do you have the diameter of this seal beam?

I may have what you are looking for.

Thank you for all the replies, we found several sources for the bulb in question. A GE 17212 is a perfect fit and color although it is a 38 volt bulb it works fine. the OD is 5.75".
Thank you,

Being 38 volt it should last a bit longer. It's no different than buying 130 volt bulbs for use on 120 volts.

For those who are trying to keep up, Trans-lite is now Teknoware USA (Teknoware is a Finnish lighting company), located in Conway, South Carolina. https://www.teknoware.com/en/vehicle-lighting. I haven't spoken to them so I don't know if they still maintain a catalogue or just do job production.

So does this post mean good news for a grand old lady of a heavyweight obs car? It's been a long, long time since i've heard of it moving in revenue service anywhere. It used to travel all over the East Coast on Amtrak. Charles Kuralt did an "On the Road" piece about it over 30 years ago.

The LV 353 was donated to Steamtown National Historic Site several years ago. Most likely it will only be used on the Park's excursions, as I believe the required Amtrak inspections have lapsed. I do not speak for the Park, these are only my personal thoughts.
