Thanks, Randy. According to other sites, this car was built in 1912 as the 402 for M-K-T. One BC was built in 1912 for M-K-T - the 401. Another was built in 1911:
Private Car - No. 170 - For Edwin Hawley
(Old Plan Drawing List) - M-K-T to SP. Lot 3917 - 4/17/11

No mention of 402.

Another site indicates that there is a wood sheathed BC numbered 402:
wood vestibuled business car resheathed in steel. (JOHN W. BARRIGER III NATIONAL RAILROAD LIBRARY)

I'm not disputing any of it - nor inferring that the Pullman Lot List is holy writ, and can not be in error (I know better than that). The car has obviously been modified - A/C ducting alone indicates that. Sheathing can be deceptive...but the continued reference to "built by Pullman" and a given year (1912) is also interesting. That *IS* the period when cars were starting to be sheathed. It's also possible that it was originally 401 and the number changed at some point.

SARHM is happy to announce the acquisition of the former Cotton Belt (SSW) business car “Dixie”! As of the morning of June 20th, the Cotton Belt Rail Historical Society donated the Dixie to our organization. We are extremely grateful for the honor of receiving ownership of this car. We look forward to finishing the restoration work on the Dixie and anticipate the day she and the Alamo will be riding behind the SP 794 in excursion service."

In reference to you question about oil lamps; the Adams and Westlake Company is still in business with a large collection of patterns and a custom foundery. Their web site is a treat to watch; pouring both simple and complex brass castings. They should be able to make you about any kind of lamp you need.

Good luck with your restoration projects. Sadly in this day and age your car will need a fence and a good intrusion alarm.
