Has anyone gathered, or published, a list of railroad, streetcar and interurban logos? If so, I would appreciate hearing about what is available.

"The Changing Emblems" by Ralph Cooper was published in 1988 by the Kansas City Chapter NRHS, "The Pioneer Chapter of the West," in Kansas City, Missouri. It's a 44-page 8 1/2" x 11" comb-bound booklet showing emblems/logos of various railroads across the country with descriptions of the lines. --- Ray

Trains Magazine sells a poster (Railroad Family Trees) that has the logos of the railroads that are the heritage of America's current large railroads.

Thanks for the material offered. I have ordered, or contacted, the referenced possible sources. In working with Southern Methodist students at DeGolyer Library, most have no idea, or knowledge, of what a train really is made of, how to separate different classes of equipment, or any idea on what should be done when separating a pile of photos, of which most do not have any info written on the back to help. I hope to collect as many emblems/logos as possible to act as an additional aid in deciphering what they are looking at for sorting.

If you have any logos of any rail object or company, I would appreciate your forwarding a good, legible copy to me at HarryNicholls38@gmail.com. I am looking for the "Changing Emblem" book which is out of print and, so far, unobtainable from web sources. Have a copy you don't need? Contact me, please.

Harry

The Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society has an 82 page softcover book entitled Trademarks of the Santa Fe Railway.

Harry,

I have samples of P&WV heralds and slogans online here: http://www.bigeprod.com/pwvArtwork.html. I also have a bit of B&O, WM, P&LE, MTR and Y&S If you're interested.
