Post subject:  Two C&NW 40' boxcars at Lawrence Foods

Mentioned a few times in the thread on the preservation of C&NW boxcar #284, its move Elk Grove Village, Illinois and its restoration at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, was the fact that two other C&NW boxcars were located at Lawrence Foods. An overhead photo of the plant was included by filmteknik in the thread on CNW 284, possibly dating to earlier this year and with (possibly) one of those two other boxcars still located there. I found a couple of photos on the internet showing these two cars back in April 2010:

Note that the two cars were numbered C&NW 24681 and C&NW 24135. If the date on Mr. Fennell's photos are correct, they were taken just before HVRM came and moved C&NW #284 from the plant. One other interesting thing is that both 24681 and 24135 appear to have galvanized/aluminum roofs, and the car that appears in filmteknik's submitted photo, also appears to have that type roof treatment. So, does one of the cars still exist there at Lawrence Foods?
