But at that point, you run the risk of breaking something else and being in a larger pickle.
Better to get it home before trying drastic things that might make an already poor situation much worse.

No. You would want to disassemble it and remove it in pieces, clean and polish the surfaces, and reassemble it with a lot of lost motion and grease should you ever need to make the crosshead move on the guides again.

And, the fireman on the Best Friend of Charleston tied down the safety valve for more steam pressure. Neither is a good idea.

How would we get them up there? We don't have any equipment that goes up that high.

We are making regular trips from Ohio to Strasburg anyways, so just drag along a trailer on one of those trips.

It isnt important now for the move, I thought about also moving the engine to break the rust. The parts are tougher than you think. But dissassembly is the better trick but shock it with some sledgehammer hits. Like I said earlier get some rust dissolver on it. eventually you will want them freed.

765 tried to free the tender pin, it would not budge, air hammers did nothing, throwing wd40 around it did nothing, it took it took an air jack or Ram lifting the pin up.
