In areal views I spotted a turntable bridge on the ground across the road from the Rochester and Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. I have done some searching for info on this turntable including on the R&G website to no avail. Does anyone know the history of this one? Street view of the turntable: https://www.google.com/maps/@43.0032519,-77.7205867,3a,75y,185.08h,79.67t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sJn9twdx6evaWNRA84FhBEA!2e0!6s%2F%2Fgeo0.ggpht.com%2Fcbk%3Fpanoid%3DJn9twdx6evaWNRA84FhBEA%26output%3Dthumbnail%26cb_client%3Dmaps_sv.tactile.gps%26thumb%3D2%26w%3D203%26h%3D100%26yaw%3D280.43417%26pitch%3D0%26thumbfov%3D100!7i13312!8i6656 |

Naturally right after I posted I think I found the answer. Appears to be from the Buffalo, Rochester and Pittsburgh Railway / Baltimore and Ohio from the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Rochster, NY. Part of the roundhouse that surround it is still there adapted for a business. |

You are correct. The turntable was installed at the BR&P/B&O shop at Lincoln Park (Rochester, N.Y.), which CSX used up until 1985 when they sold the lines to Genesee & Wyoming. The turntable, roundhouse, and shop area were separate property not part of the railroad deal, and a scrap metal dealer moved in. They were going to scrap the turntable bridge, but decided it had more historic value and donated it to our museum instead. We have no current plans for the turntable bridge, but it has been preserved none the less. -otto- |

This turns out to be a 75’ B&O, ex-BR&P turntable from the Lincoln Park roundhouse in Rochester, NY, that was donated to the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum by the scrap dealer who took over the site. It was built for the BR&P in 1904 by the American Bridge Company and is exhibited/stored across the street from the museum. Photos on the museum's web site show they have the center bearing for it as well as the bridge and other parts. |
