Actually, we'll be offering Victorian Christmas on TWO Saturdays this year: 12/16 and 12/23. Advanced reservations are closed, but we are reserving spots for walk-up passengers on both days. Details are on our web site: http://www.wwfry.org |

Some pictures from the WW&FRy facebook page showing the recent progress on the bridge. Site work for the bridge installation at Trout Brook and on the railroad right of way leading into the bridge site should be starting up soon. |

Nice work, but I'm a little disappointed that no openings / windows were left to allow the passengers to see all that beautiful truss work. It seems a missed opportunity for a teaching moment. I would have figured some Lexan windows mid-span on the interior sheathing would both keep the weather out and be invisible in photos of the train crossing the bridge. |

Pictures from the last month of work. Most of the pictures show installing the bridge sheathing and trim. There are a few pictures of the tie rods being installed in the deck and fire proofing being sprayed on the bridge. The last pictures show the rolled roofing being installed on the roof of the west truss. The other truss still needs rolled roofing applied. Photos courtesy of Linc Reed-Nickerson. |

So how do they get the bridge to the site? I would think it would have been assembled in situ? |

We've hired house movers. The bridge is scheduled to go in place this fall. The move itself should be very easy via a state road and into the site on a short and wide portion of the road bed. Construction in situ ould have been far more difficult. |

Ed, Ah, that makes sense; I couldn't see you putting it on a flatcar and hauling it to the site via rail! So, I assume some carefully poured footings will be in place and a crane will "drop it" into place. You guys have done some amazing things already. IF I'm ever "back east" your RR is on my Bucket List! |

The south side pile bent was finished this week except for bolting on the cross braces. We're waiting on our bolt order. The crane was moved back Friday so the north side pile bent can be put in this week. View from the top. |

The last couple weeks of bridge work. This has been almost all volunteer work since the pile driving was finished. Bolting the braces on the south bent. Cross braces being installed on the north bent. Cribbing for the temporary spans being set up on the south bent. The temporay bridges will sit on the long grey beam under the cap. Cribbing and jacks done on the south bent. Cross braces on the north bent. Lifting one of the beams for the north bent cribbing out of railroad's pickup truck and placing the beam on the bent. Attaching the first temporary crib beam to the pile bent. Upper crib beam being put in place. Quitting time last Thursday. Loading up the temporary bridge spans on the museum's trailer for the trip up to the bridge site. The temporary were fabricated in the museum's shop. The dollies, gooseneck, steel beams for moving the were dropped off Friday. |
