Post subject:  Used locomotives sales in the 1880-90's & seller records?

We are trying to run down sales of three locomotives originally of the Rocky River RR. All were Baldwin 4-2-0's construction #'s 1727, 1728 & 3662. Baldwin order books often show a subsequent owner of locomotives, but not for any of these three.
These engines became Nickel Plate property in 1881 as the NKP used the RRRR right-of -way to get into Cleveland. They were held, unused, around Cleveland, OH until 1885.
Were there used equipment dealers from that time whose records are extant? If so, where do they reside? Or does anyone know anything beyond what Rehor has in the "Nickel Plate Story"?
