While looking for material on the Franklin Universal Piston Valve and Steam Chest conversion kit, I came across a mention of this preserved locomotive that I didn't know about.

She is not the best preserved (dirty pigeons!), but far, very far from being the worst (roofs make a difference!) And yes, she has a Universal (or Economy) conversion kit.

The original mention where I found this engine was in the Narrow Gauge Discussion Forum, which was also the source of this copy of what looks like a page from a Locomotive Cyclopedia.

Looking for other pictures, here is one of her before the canopy was built. . .she's a handsome locomotive, Alco 1906:

The 40 in Ely, Nevada has a conversion on it and it operates. Just in case you wanted to see it in action.

There is also an Illinois Central 2-8-0 with this conversion at the Museum of Transportation west of St. Louis.

I cant remember where I saw it, but not very long ago someone wrote an article in an online model railroad magazine about building a model of this locomotive and its history. Perhaps someone else here can remember having seen the same article and can list the source?
