I live between Rochester and Buffalo so I am very familiar with the weather. This is Western NY and the only thing that closes with a little snow is the Thruway.

I am only a couple of hours away from Buffalo too, so I am also familiar with the weather.

I'm really enjoying watching everyone debate just how severe the winter may or may not be in Buffalo, lol.

Something tells me that scrappers don't take the winter off in Buffalo.

And where the engine sits, there is little to no access on either side of it as it is fully fenced in. It would be a bit of a logistical challenge to haul the cut up remains of the engine out without a. taking some or all of the fence or b. using a skidsteer or other similar small machine.

Carry on. Got a fresh batch of popcorn a-poppin', lol.

Cheers,

Rob Gardner

That was my point Rob. Buffalo does not shut down in the winter. Scrappers want to keep working and make money.

Save some popcorn for me. ;)

I thought all the Buffalo scrappers went to Miami during the winter!

Looks like we’ve been fooled by a not nice but nicely done Internet rumor. At least she won’t be scrapped.

I think because the facts changed since all this internet chatter started a couple of weeks ago. I knew 3 or 4 years ago he had talked about scrapping it if a buyer couldn't be found before he passed away.

No, I think some of us created the game.

Well at least it will be saved. So we did our unpaid job.
I believe that the Facebook message is true, but at this point I am questioning everything.

Why do I feel like the cop at the end of "Usual Suspects", duped by Keyser Söze?

Just to make it known, there is another CPR "Mike" in the Revelstoke Railway Museum, in B.C. #5468, kept indoors. It's a museum dedicated to the CPR.

Al Crisp here; Let me just say as one the people who is as close to what may or may not happen NO COMMENT YET!! Ask me no questions, I will tell you no lies!
There is a third P2 albeit another semi streamlined domeless version 5433. It is in a park in Chapleau Ontario, north east of the SOO. 5468 belongs to Expo rail in Delson PQ and has been on lone to Revelstoke for years now,17 I think.
Oh for any who have questioned the legitimacy of the sound of 2618 whistle here is the low down from the horses mouth.!2618 has two whistles, it's normal one positioned in the normal place on the fireman's side in the shielded area. A second from a Selkirk is located by the stack and is air operated. The crews seem to prefer this one as the original sputters and gives them a shower.
