What engine is the donated stoker coming from?

Someone else would need to chime in, but the stoker was in a pile of spare parts before it was donated.

The stoker in question sat alongside the tool house for a number of years and was not from any locomotive in the collection. It had no provenance that anyone could identify, though it must have come from a large locomotive since the stoker trough was 14 feet long.

This is a nice way of showing how restoration groups can be co-operative to the benefit of all.

Maybe I'm missing something here, and I have skipped over the mentions in this thread, but:

1- Is 576 missing it's stoker?

2- If so, why/how?

3- What are the "tool house" and "the collection" being referenced?

1. Not as far as I know.
2. See No. 1
3. Railroad Museum of Pa. Tool house was in a non-public area.

There is/was an effort to clean up around the non-public areas of the display yard, and the stoker was part of that. It was slated for scrap until a volunteer intervened and found a home for the stoker. After all, they don't make 'em any more.

I haven't seen anyone post about this yet, so I figured I'd let it be known.

The Nashville Steam Preservation Society (NSPS) has reached their goal of $500,000 that is needed to relocate Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis (NC&StL) 4-8-4 Dixie #576 from its current location (Centennial Park in Nashville, TN) to the Tennessee Central Railway Museum where it will begin getting restored to operation.

It's very excited to see that #576 is actually getting another chance to run again. It took a long time (and many previous attempts) for this to happen, but now the wheels are in motion (no pun intended).

I can't wait to see her when she is finished up and running again. What a sight she will be.
